A clear process.
A shared understanding.
A five-stage framework helps define what needs to change, how work will be delivered and how outputs will be reviewed. The exact steps, responsibilities and timing are agreed for each project.
Initial Consultation
Discuss the business model, the finance team's priorities and the workflows that need attention. Identify the decisions the project should support and the people responsible for them.
Business Assessment
Review the relevant information sources, reporting definitions, process handovers and system dependencies. Identify gaps and practical constraints before recommending a direction.
Solution Development
Set out the proposed work, deliverables, responsibilities and acceptance criteria. Confirm assumptions, data-handling arrangements, fees and timing in a written agreement before delivery begins.
Implementation and Support
Provide the contracted analysis, consulting, configuration planning, development or integration support. Keep decisions and changes visible, and involve the client in validation and handover.
Review and Improvement
Review outputs against the agreed requirements, record remaining limitations and discuss improvements. Any further work or ongoing support is defined separately rather than assumed.
A formal basis
for cooperation.
A website enquiry is the start of a discussion, not acceptance of a project. Before delivery, the parties should agree a written scope, the intended use of outputs, responsibilities, review criteria, fees and payment terms.
Any relevant confidentiality, data-sharing, third-party software and support arrangements should be addressed in the agreement. Additional work, material changes and ongoing support need to be agreed explicitly.
